Minnesota has long been called the Land of 10,000 but actually this northern state has closer to 14,000 lakes making it a virtual swamp. Because of all of the lakes, the locals that live there like to joke that the Minnesota state bird is actually the mosquito from how big they are due to the moisture filled land. Lakes are used by the locals year round for boating and other activities in the summer and for ice related activities during the long cold winters say an owner of tree trimming and tree removal business there. In fact, Minneapolis means the city of lakes. This article will explore some of the favorite lakes that are located in Minneapolis or near the downtown area that people love to use.

There are a chain of lakes within Minneapolis and there are four wonderful lakes as part of this chain. The first one is called Cedar Lake which is on the west side of the city that is surrounded by park land on one side and a residential area on the other. The Cedar Lake Trail has three paths that are used for recreational use as well as for those commuting to the city using non motorized forms of transportation. The paths are well organized with some for pedestrians and others for bikes or rollerblading which keeps everyone safe and happy. Hidden beach is the most popular spot on the lake to swim and get some sun.

Lake Calhoun is the second lake in the chain of lakes in Minneapolis and is also the biggest lake in the city. The paths and trails around it for walkers or cyclists are 3.2 miles making it a perfect 5K route for many. It is popular for canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing and has three different swimming beaches. Lake Calhoun also has the Lake Calhoun yacht club and sailing school there for those who love to sail or what to learn how. A great spot to get something to eat on Lake Calhoun is a fish and chips place called The Tin Fish.

The third lake in these series of city lakes is called Lake Harriet and is in the southwest part of Minneapolis. It is a very busy lake for recreation and actually connects with Lake Calhoun. Lake Harriet has a large Band shell on one end which hosts outdoor concerts when the weather is warm. One section of the Como-Harriet streetcar line runs between Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun as well. Just next to Lake Harriet is a great area called Linden Hills for boutique shopping.

The final lake in the city lakes is called Lake of the Isles and is connected to Cedar Lake and Lake Calhoun. It is the best used lake in the winter with hockey and ice skating areas as well as a New Year’s Eve party with roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate. There are beautiful old homes along this lake and the exterior shot of the house from the Mary Tyler Moore TV show was one of them.

Connor Sullivan recently spent time searching the term tree trimming Minneapolis on the internet looking for a service to help around his office building. He used a tree removal Minneapolis service to cut down a large tree in his yard that was damaged from a storm.
